You can help thousands of Southwestern students with your gift. Throughout its history, Southwestern Oklahoma State University has attracted capable, hard-working and dedicated students. Students in a wide range of academic disciplines are demonstrating that they are the equal of any. They are the scientists, nurses, educators, and business leaders of tomorrowensuring a brighter future.
The combination of rising costs and severe shortage of available assistance creates serious problems for students and their families. Recent projections show that, in the absence of new monies for student aid, the general funds required to continue the present scholarship program for undergraduates must increase more than threefold in the next three years alone. It is difficult to see how the University's budget can possibly accommodate an increase of this magnitude. Accordingly, we are seeking new funds to establish additional scholarships.
Meeting the challenges of this century will require that SWOSU continue to offer its students the best educational opportunities possible. Scholarships allow SWOSU to attract highly capable students and ensure that the University's tradition of educational excellence will continue and that deserving students will not be deprived of the opportunity to realize their potential. Resources invested in students are a pledge to the future. Participation in the Annual Fund will help provide scholarships to students who can excel in the critical areas of education, science, and business. It will help attract talented students in teacher shortage areas such as math, science, elementary, and special education, and it will help meet the needs of minority students. An expanded scholarship program will enable Southwestern Oklahoma State University to provide the strong educational foundation on which the future will be built. Gifts made through the Annual Fund to programs across campus give students a competitive edge in today's rapidly changing environment.
